Sunday Service

Focus 1 - Sunday Services:

We want to see our church community come together regularly so that we may connect with others through fellowship and worship, grow through the teaching, and have the opportunity to serve each other.

Besides gathering in smaller home groups, which we read frequently in the New Testament, the book of Acts confirms that the early believers came together for larger corporate meetings:

  • Acts 2:44 - Now all who believed were together

Their commitment to one another was so profound that they pooled their resources and shared what they had with those in need:

  • Acts 2:44-45 - Now all who believed were together, and had all things in common, and sold their possessions and goods, and divided them among all, as anyone had need.

They met in the temple daily, came together for important decisions (Acts 15), and helped each other collectively. In Acts 6 the church comes together to select leaders to help the Apostles.

Later Paul appoints leaders over cities (Acts 14), encompassing all the house churches within the city giving them the responsibility of teaching the people, and guiding and directing the city-wide church (see 1 Tim 3, for qualifications) and their chief role is to handle correct teaching and guide the people:

  • Titus 1:9 - He must hold firm to the sure word as taught, so that he may be able to instruct in sound doctrine and also to confute those who contradict it.
