Mayfield Baptist Church is looking for a passionate leader who is enthusiastic to see children connect with God, grow to be more like Jesus, and is excited to serve here and beyond MBC.

Mayfield Baptist Church (MBC) celebrates a rich history spanning nearly a century, fostering a vibrant, multi-generational community that includes individuals of all ages—from newborns to those over 90. As we look ahead to our 100th anniversary this year, we are excited about the opportunities God has in store for us in this new season.

MBC embraces a unique flat leadership model, meaning we do not operate under a single senior pastor. Instead, we are guided by our Church Leadership Team (CLT) and Eldership. This structure enhances our mission and vision by harnessing a diverse array of skills and perspectives. Every staff role is intentionally created to align with our core values, fostering collaboration and inclusivity within our church community.

Summary of Position

Mayfield Baptist Church is seeking an Operations Pastor or Operations Manager for a full-time role (with part-time negotiable for the right applicant). You will provide operational leadership and management oversight, carrying out day-to-day tasks and leading cohesive administrative teams to ensure excellence across church ministry and administration. A primary focus involves identifying operational blockages, implementing efficient systems, and managing financial, HR, property, and compliance processes. Additionally, for candidates applying as Operations Pastor, the role includes pastoral care responsibilities, contributing to the preaching team, supporting residential housing ministries, and serving within our team-based pastoral leadership model.

The ideal candidate possesses strong organisational, financial, and team leadership skills, backed by a deep, personal commitment to Christ-like character and church ministry. You must be able to lead and care for administrative teams, think strategically to streamline church systems, draft policies, and collaborate effectively with pastors, ministry leaders, and governance teams.

Requirements include demonstrated experience in business administration, operations, or church management, church membership in good standing, and meeting all Safe Church, Police Check, and Working with Children Check standards. They must be proficient with church management systems (such as Elvanto or similar) and financial software (such as Xero), all while modelling spiritual maturity, a servant-hearted attitude, and a commitment to protecting the unity of the church. For candidates recognised or accredited as a Pastor with the Baptist Association of NSW and ACT, this position will be appointed as Operations Pastor, remunerated according to pastoral guidelines, and subject to a church members' vote.

This is recognised as a part-time position of 5 day per week.
