  Rivers of Life is our Mayfield Baptist Church Bible college. We believe it is a part of discipleship for followers of Christ to gain a deeper and also practical understanding, of their faith. The studies provide a grounding that enables people to take on life’s ups and downs and stand firm in their understanding of who they are in Christ and not be swayed by unnecessary doubts. Rivers is more relaxed than a formal Bible College. We focus on students discovering for themselves the truth of their faith, rather than telling them what to believe. 1st Term; Becoming a leader of Influence: the ins and outs of leadership in God’s Church. What makes a good leader and how we influence other to lead themselves. And how we order and prioritise our lives to be the best leader we can. 2nd Term; Small Group Ministry: small groups are essential to Church growth and discipleship. We look at the why’s and how’s of small group leadership and practical skills and methods on running a small group. 3rd Term; Christian History: our faith journey is heavily influenced by the actions and choices of those before us. This subject looks at the pivitol moments in Church history and how they effect us now. Without an understanding of what has gone before we can repeat the same mistakes or overlook past successes. 4th Term; Evangelism: we are all called to be witnesses for Christ. We will explore both theological and practical issues of evangelism. Learning skills on how to be Christ to those who don’t yet know him. In 2011 we will finish off our first cycle of the Cert IV with Apologetics and Ministry Electives We offer two levels of study, 1. BASIC ENTRY, which is about the learning without the pressure of higher level assessments and deadlines. This is for those who just want to deepen their understanding, and develop new and better skills as they serve God in His church. Those at this level attend classes with the other level and have all the notes and resources of the higher level. But no added pressure. Cost $40 per subject 2. CREDIT LEVEL, this is for those who wish to stretch themselves and enter the challenge of gaining formal recognition. At the present time Rivers offers a Cert IV in Christian Ministry and Theology. This is made up of 9 subjects and at present takes two years to complete. This level requires more commitment but also will stretch you into areas you may not have considered before. This level is also a useful tool for those wishing to enter level of leadership in ministries. Cost per subject $100 ($900 full Cert) |
